Experience

Hi! My name is Courtney and I am the founder of San Diego Holistic Occupational Therapy. I am an occupational therapist and yoga instructor based in San Diego, California. I am incredibly passionate about helping men and women connect their mind, body, and brain to heal from trauma. My passion for healing and the body began in 2009 when I took my first yoga class while attending The Ohio State University. I was so moved on how healing yoga felt in my body and how much the practice changed my mindset. After my first class at Yoga on High in Columbus, Ohio, I knew that yoga would always be a huge part of my life. I continued my journey and moved to San Francisco where I graduated with a master of science in occupational therapy from Dominican University of California. From there I gained experience in working in the acute rehabilitation setting (Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center in the Bay Area and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago) - working primarily with adults with neurological injuries (traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury). I loved how much mindful movement, sensory based OT practices, and connecting to the breath facilitated so much healing in my patients. I moved to San Diego in 2019 where I received my Yoga Teacher Training certification with CorePower Yoga in Pacific Beach. I met many of my mentors through my training and continued on to get my Reiki level I and II attunement in 2020. Throughout my experience as an occupational therapist and yoga instructor, I knew i wanted to focus my techniques on trauma healing. My mission is to provide a safe and healing space to implement evidenced based assessments, create client-centered goals, and to facilitate total body healing from trauma. I look forward to working together.
